Deputy Chief Inspector of Care Inspectorate Wales
Who am I?
My name is Vicky Poole and I am the Deputy Chief Inspector of Care Inspectorate Wales.
What do I do?
I joined CIW in 2014 and was appointed as Deputy Chief Inspector in November 2018.
I began my career as a mental health nurse in Leeds but soon moved into social care. I moved to north Wales in 1990. I have held various roles in including as a care home manager, an improvement manager working across Wales and a regional commissioning
My areas of interest and/or experience
I am interested in partnership working. I have a long-standing interest in support for people living with dementia, and carers.
I am a keen ‘horizon scanner’ learning from what is happening elsewhere and adapting this for our work.
What’s important to me
A passion for social justice and people’s rights are what attracted me to working with CIW. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking – in the Clwydian hills and Snowdonia but further afield too. I have just purchased an electric bike so I can get further than on two feet! I also love reading – and usually have a proper (paper) book and an audiobook on the go!
