We want your views ahead of our first joint Section 5 inspection in Rhondda Cynon Taf

Care Inspectorate Wales, alongside Estyn and His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) are asking people, practitioners and those in a position of trust in Rhondda Cynon Taf to share their views ahead of our inspection in January 2027.

The revised Section 5 Wales Safeguarding Procedures came into effect in July 2026. They set out how organisations should respond to allegations / concerns involving people in a position of trust.

Rhondda Cynon Taf has been confirmed as the location for the first inspection under the new joint inspection programme, which brings together Care Inspectorate Wales, Estyn and HMICFRS to assess how organisations are working together to implement the revised procedures.

Before the inspection takes place, we want to hear from anyone with a view on how these revised procedures are being implemented.

We have launched a short, anonymous survey which takes around takes ten minutes to complete.

We are also keen to hear from children and young people in Rhondda Cynon Taf about their safeguarding experiences in school. Children and young people can share their views by completing one of these surveys:
