Inspection report for Adult Services in Denbighshire County Council published

The purpose of this inspection was to review the performance of Denbighshire County Council’s Adult Services.

The inspection took place between 8 and 12 September 2025.

Findings

Denbighshire County Council’s Adult Services demonstrate strong leadership, a positive and supportive culture, and robust safeguarding practices, with practitioners committed to person-centred care and continuous improvement.

While there are notable strengths in staff wellbeing, partnership working, and preventative services, ongoing challenges remain in recruitment, timely access to care, and consistency in advocacy and quality assurance. The local authority is actively addressing these areas for improvement to ensure better outcomes for people and carers.

Next steps

CIW expects the local authority to consider the areas identified for improvement and take appropriate action to address these. CIW will monitor progress through our ongoing performance review activity with the local authority. Where relevant the local authority should share positive practice identified with other local authorities,  disseminate learning and help drive continuous improvement in statutory services throughout Wales.
