We have today published our inspection report of Wrexham County Borough Council social services

The report summarises the findings of our inspections of children’s social services and adult social services between the 12 and 23 of October 2020.

The purpose of these inspections was to review how well Wrexham County Borough Council social services has progressed on its journey of improvement following a meeting in February 2020 to discuss significant failings in Wrexham children’s services and seek clarification from the local authority on their immediate improvement plans.

A team of CIW inspectors spent seven working days inspecting children’s social services and three days inspecting adult social services. We also monitored children’s services throughout the previous year, meeting with senior managers and reviewing performance data. The breadth of work undertaken by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to improve children’s social services in Wrexham in a relatively short period is commendable, and we are pleased that the decisive action taken has created the environment necessary to achieve significant positive change.

All our findings and recommendations from these inspections can be found on the report page: Report of Children’s Services Risk Based Inspection and Adults Services Performance Evaluation Inspection: Wrexham County Borough Council.
