Ensure your service remains compliant – last chance to submit your SASS

The online portal for completing the SASS will reopen on 24th February until 9th March.

We have written to those childcare and play providers who have not yet submitted their Self-Assessment of Service Statement (SASS).

If you provide a childcare and play service and have not yet submitted your SASS, please do so as a matter of urgency to ensure that your service remains compliant.

Completion of the SASS is a legal requirement of the Child Minding and Day Care (Wales) Regulations 2010 (Regulation 17). Failure to submit the SASS will mean that you will be non-compliant with this regulation. This may affect your rating at your next inspection.

In addition, we will publish a list of those services that have failed to submit a return by 9 March.

What action you must take now

Only the Registered Person or Responsible Individual can complete and submit the SASS. You can only do this via CIW Online and it must be submitted between 24th February and 9th March 2020.

If you have already set up an account, please use the same details you used when creating your account.

Once submitted, you will receive a notification email from us. You will not be able to make any changes via CIW Online once submitted.

The SASS submission should not be used in place of making a notification to us about any changes to your registration.

Should you have any questions about SASS, please do not hesitate to call us on 0300 7900 126 option 4 or email CIW@gov.wales.
