From Thursday 29 September 2022 you will no longer be required to report individual cases of COVID-19

As with other infectious diseases, you will only be required to report when an outbreak of COVID-19 has occurred. An outbreak is classified as two or more.

As we transition through the pandemic recovery phase, we believe the time has come to return to normal reporting requirements.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank care providers across Wales for your diligent use of the CIW Online notification system during the pandemic to report individual cases of COVID-19 in staff and in people using the service. The information you shared enabled us to report effectively to Welsh Government and helped inform national and local planning for COVID-19. Thank you for your efforts in what we know was an incredibly difficult and challenging time.

How to notify us

Please continue to notify us about any changes or incidents at your service using CIW Online. To notify us of an outbreak of COVID-19, you must use the ‘outbreak of infectious disease’ online notification. Please see our notifications guidance if you require further assistance.

You no longer need to submit a temporary closure notification due to COVID-19.
